that does is hold us, and our offender, hostage, as if chained in a prison of our own creation. Jesus gives us an alternate example. One which calls for limitless, unconditional forgiveness. Jesus does not ask us to condone sin or pretend it never happened – No. He simply asks us to acknowledge it, name it, and then let it go – freeing the offender and ourselves from the bonds of hate and anger.
