The Heart Of Salvation

Luke 7:36-50

In this interaction with the woman and Simon the Pharisee Jesus takes us to the very heart of salvation. The last we saw in Luke’s Gospel we learned that the reason so many people reject Jesus comes down to an unwillingness to repent of their sin. We will see this rejection echoed in the thoughts and actions of Simon the Pharisee. But in sharp contrast stands the sinful woman. Luke’s invitation is for all to come and see how the peace she found and love she displayed and grace she received point like a giant flashing sign to the truth that all sinners, no matter how sinful, can find their sins forgiven by faith in Jesus alone.
