Get to know Executive Pastor of Worship, Shawn Struckmeier, husband to his wife Darcy and father of four. Originally from San Jose California, but called to the Midwest, Shawn has quite the story of how God has used him thus far.

Shawn grew up multi-passionate, lover of sports and music, you’d find him playing on his baseball team and singing around the house in his pastime.

Before becoming involved in leading worship, he did not have the desire to be in ministry or church for that matter, after seeing his fathers downfall and leaving his position in their home church.

He did end up getting his degree in Bible Theology and minoring in management and ethics, which in turn is just what he needed for his ultimate calling years down the road!

After six years of traveling with a gospel group, he was hired on for worship at his home church, and this is where he first felt lead to worship.

Later, there was a stirring in his and his wife’s hearts about something new, they wanted to be obedient to God but not sure where or what to do. It was at this moment where God stopped them in their tracks and Shawn was sent to the hospital with a ruptured appendix, never to go back to his job at his home church!

Though reluctant to move to Missouri, the Struckmeier’s did follow God’s call, after multiple instances where Abundant Life Church came up in conversation, Shawn knew this is where God wants him!
