Today’s Scripture:

‭Psalms 38:4-6 NIV‬

My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear. My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly. I am bowed down and brought very low; all day long I go about mourning.

When we sin, it is like the weight of the world is on our shoulders, and we become depressed and discouraged. You want to be alone. You don’t want to go to church or be around anyone. But no matter how heavy you feel and how much you feel guilty, you were not built to carry sin. Jesus already took our sins. He carried it to the cross. You are not designed or built to carry sin.

When we sin, we feel heavy. There is a heaviness to it. David felt so heavy and burdened down because of his sins. So, when we feel this way, it is mostly likely that there are some unconfessed sins somewhere. It will always leave us in a place of heaviness.

This Psalm also told us, ‭"Lord, do not forsake me; do not be far from me, my God. Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior.” (Psalms 38:21-22 NIV‬). This is the way to get out of that sin and heaviness, confess your sin, call upon God. God delights in showing mercy. His pleasure is to show us mercy. His anger is only for a moment. He wants to show mercy; His favor is for a lifetime. God wants to come quickly to help you because he is your savior and your friend.

Give it to God, repent, he loves you and he wants to give you another chance. It is already done. You do not need to carry the cross, give it to Jesus.
