The helmet is an essential part of armour protecting the head. The skull itself is a protection for our most precious brain. It is the centre of our very nature. To protect our spiritual life we must protect our mind. The things we think about mould what we are, so it is important to control what we think about. It is the helmet of Salvation that protects us from carnal thoughts that lead to destruction.
