The story centers on Linda, a former nightclub entertainer who marries the affluent Justin Herald. Despite Justin's deep affection for her, he harbors a fear of his wife. During a card game with his friend Gable Baxter, Justin experiences chest pains, which he tries to conceal. Unbeknownst to him, Linda has conspired with the enigmatic Professor Tondo to concoct a lethal elixir intended to end Justin's life.
