For the depths of July, The Hidden Egg podcast decided to mine some summer memories from the halls of Medium. For some romantic, supernatural reason writing about summertime memories just pulls out some vulnerability. Probably because it always seemed like an experience outside everyday life, or maybe I'm just being a little whimsical about it. lol. Here are the gems we found cooling on the rocks in Medium-land:

Shoutouts:

• It Felt Like the End of The World in The Summer of ’74 by Marcia Abboud
• The Highlight of Summer Has Always Been Our Birthdays by The Sturg (Gerald Sturgill)
• Summer Haze in a Sweaty Daze by Robin Wilding 💎
• Mastering the 5 Levels of Kid Summer Awesomeness by Jennifer Haubrich

Main Articles Showcased:

1. The Grizzly Rollercoaster and My Summer of Bravery by Sarah Paris
2. A Fling in the Summer of 1970 Taught Me a Valuable Lesson by Klara Jane Holloway
3. Canning Sweet Summer Memories Under the Stars by Debra G. Harman, MEd.

Well, Eggheads, do we have a deep topic to cover today. And, it barely matters since the events of the 13th. In the light of the Supreme Court's ruling on the former president's immunity, we decided we wanted to voice our thoughts and those of several impassioned writers on Medium! Which I will list now:

1. The Discord Among Democrats Is Only Natural and Makes Me Proud to Vote Blue by Ben Ulansey
2. This Country Is Screwed by TAM
3. With fear for our democracy by Dan Canon*
4. It’s Worse Than You Think by Robert W Ahrens*
5. 21st Century Divine Right to Rule by Author, D. Denise Dianaty*
6. SCOTUS Crowns Trump as King by Caren White*

The Great Nominator himself, Gerald Sturgill, was The Hidden Egg's first interview of the season. A friend of the podcast, TheSturg (as many know him) has been a force to be reckoned with on Medium for years now. We were honored to be able to ask him about his journey to get here. We get to hear his difficulties, his successes, and his favorite articles. Let's all give some reads to this criminally under-boosted mainstay of Medium and check out some of his work! There's enough there to keep you entertained for hours or days or weeks!

For this episode, TAM and mort decided to explore a corner or two of the 'manosphere.' What started as a quest researching men's issues turned into a revelation that so much of what men are writing about has to do with the ideas of 'toxic masculinity' and how that affects men.

Our main attractions were:

1. It’s Time to Stop Idolizing Extreme Men by Daniel Midson-Short
2. Not All Masculinity is Toxic by Matthew Maniaci
3. Can’t Make it as an Alpha Male? Here Are Some Options by Patrick Metzger

The Hidden Egg podcast returns with the first episode of Season 5! Happy Pride, eggheads! This installment, we focused our search through Medium to articles telling us about LGBTQIA+ issues and experiences.

We shared a writer who is a part of our discord community, Murphy's Law, having his sexuality challenged by a well-written character, and marched right into Nanie Hurley telling us how LGBTQIA+ folks are dismantling toxic traditions. Our 3rd author, I Napoleon B. gave us a very intimate seat to get a taste of his relationship with one of his best friends, and the special bond of gay friendships.
