In this episode, I talk about kids, competition, parenting, and why I don’t think protecting kids from every difficult thing is doing them any favors. I also bring in one of my favorite passages from Dracula by Bram Stoker — the part where he says, “We are in Transylvania, and Transylvania is not England. Our ways are not your ways…”That line hit me because life is kind of like that too. Different places, different people, different rules. And maybe one of the best things we can teach kids is how to adapt, be curious, build confidence, and find their own way, not just follow the path everyone else -sometimes including parents - says they should take.
