The High Maintenance Mommy

An introduction episode to what this podcast is about- the "unconventional Mother". Introducing me, the host. Sometimes in a world that wants us to fit in, isn't it something to be proud of to stand out? To me, laughter is the best medicine. So, I do like to talk a little shit. NOT because I am interested in putting anyone down, but sometimes when you are overwhelmed- it feels good to just laugh about. It is not the end of the world, and if I took everything SO seriously, I do not think I would be who I am today. In no way shape or form am I PROMOTING the consumption of cannabis. Nothing is ever "one size fits all", but this is a part of what helps me, and I think the stigma can be very silly. I do promote being safe, listening to your body, consuming whole foods, getting out in nature, movement/activity, drinking your water, using responsibly, and I promote BALANCE most of all. The ever-elusive balance! No substance is going to magically repair anyone, nor will over glorifying its effects. However, I want to live in MY truth. Part of that being that I am indeed a "canna mom", and for one reason or another, this truly has helped in some aspects of my life. As I am sure it has for others, and this does not automatically mean you are a bad parent. At the end of the day, we are all trying our best to navigate our own minds, as well as our own feelings. I also want to be clear that my main objective is for parents to show up every day as their authentic selves. I hope you can learn that no matter what life throws at you there is a way through it, and we are not the sum of the things we do. So we should not let anyone put us in some sort of box, let alone ourselves. Showing up every day is the most powerful thing I have done, so I hope we can all laugh a little together, while tackling some of the more difficult topics. I hope we can understand one another and be motivated to show up to ALL parts of our lives- even the hard parts. This parenting shit IS hard, and no one is living the same journey. What works for one, will not work for the other. I choose to intentionally parent and live my life how I see fit. But to also never impose my beliefs, nor put anyone down in the process. We can disagree, but still want everyone to "win". Wanting everyone to eat, even if it not at your table. That is what this is. A judgement free space, for parents/people to feel safe sharing the less than gracious moments, not just the highlight reel of everything. AGAIN, while laughing the entire way!
