The enemy is a master at deception and compromise. If he can't get you with deception he will try compromise and it works its way in as just a thing of convenience at first, giving you opportunity to do a good thing more often. But compromise weakens us and God knows this which is why he warned Israel, specifically warning them against going after some specific compromises.
