Why did I choose the Holy Bible for my first undertaking?  I’m an atheist. I cannot remember a time when I believed in God or was particularly impressed with religion, throughout my teens and early 20s. In fact, I was an “intransigent atheist”. Just an asshole and I know it. Everyone knows it.   As time has passed, I’ve simmered down a good bit on the “intransigent” part. I have realized in recent years that I’m unsatisfied with my knowledge of the Bible. Conversely, I grow more impressed with religion as the years weigh on. I want to dive in and experience this tome firsthand.   

This book, and its apparent wisdom, affected my life before I was even in the womb, and continue to impact it to this day, whether I like it or not, and whether I’m aware of it or not.
