Isaiah 40:3-5 speaks of a way being prepared for a victorious God to visit and deliver an imprisoned people. While this message offered hope and healing to its original audience, these verses also serve as a foreshadowing, a prophecy of a man who would come to prepare the way for Christ himself, the hope and healer of the world. In conjunction with the Isaiah text, we discover in Luke 3 more about John the Baptist, his preparation for the Lord, and his message of the hope that repentance and abiding provide.
