All About My Catholic Faith

The Holy Spirit and Grace - Jesus invites His sheep to drink of His spirit

Listen Later

"I believe in the Holy Spirit...”
"Now on the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, 'If anyone thirst, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture says, From within him there shall flow rivers of living water.' He said this, however, of the Spirit, Whom they who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit had not yet been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified"
(John 7, 37-39)
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Blessed Trinity. Jesus sent him to us so that we may have the living water of the Holy Spirit to nourish our soul.
Symbols of the Holy Spirt: (1) the dove, a symbol of love; (2) tongues of fire, also symbols of love; (3) the wind, the "breath of God," a symbol of the unseen power of love.
