Pentecost marks the fulfillment of God's promise to pour out His Spirit, establishing the New Covenant and inaugurating the Church as the living body of Christ, where the Holy Spirit dwells personally and powerfully within believers. The Spirit's primary work is threefold: first, He convicts individuals of their sin and brokenness through the law, revealing their need for salvation; second, He leads them to faith in Christ by revealing His righteousness and the truth of His resurrection and ascension, even though He is unseen; and third, He instills a holy fear of God by revealing the coming judgment, convicting the world of the devil's condemnation and calling believers to live faithfully in light of Christ's return. This ongoing work of the Spirit equips and empowers the Church to fulfill its mission of making disciples who make disciples, transforming lives and advancing God's kingdom in a world alienated from Him, all while calling every believer to repentance, surrender, and active participation in the Great Commission.
