The Holy Spirit, Philip and an Ethiopian Eunuch

The Ethiopian was a castrated black African eunuch in charge of the Queens treasury. Traveling through Jerusalem he was reading Hebrew Scripture when God told Philip to meet him. Philip immediately ran to him and asked what he was reading and if he understood it, he said he had no idea who Isaiah 53 was referring to so Philip told him the Good News of Christ, he believed and was baptized.
The eunuch was not a Jew or a proselyte to Judaism, he was an outsider. Philip responded to the Spirits call and brought the eunuch to Christ. A readiness to respond comes from listening to the Spirit with a willingness to move out in obedience when called as God speaks to each person personally. Our relationship with our creator and understanding of the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives is the most important relationship we will ever enter into.
