Megan Huffman and Kathryn Yarzebinski with the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation dropped by to talk about SHARE Greater Lynchburg, a program which acts as a free online hub connecting over 200 local nonprofits with volunteers and donors, offering over 100 volunteer opportunities at any given time, including family-friendly options like assisting the Humane Society or Meals on Wheels. They talked about their 5 year anniversary as well as onboarding efforts for new donors and volunteers.

Hans Ulrich, owner of Hill City Builders, joined us to discuss windows, doors and some of the other services they offer. He noted how important energy efficiency is and shared some signs your windows may need replacing especially in older homes with original windows. Hans also shared some maintenance tips to help your windows and doors last longer and why he stands by the ProVia brand of windows.

Connor Bowman, owner of Mightee Movers, a local moving company, joined the show to discuss his services, which include local, in-state, and out-of-state moves, junk removal, packing/unpacking, and furniture rearrangement. He shared that his team consists mostly of Liberty University students who are clean-cut, fully trained, and contribute to the company's high customer satisfaction and over 260 five-star Google reviews. Connor advised that customers should allow at least one to two weeks for packing before a move, and stressed the importance of labeling boxes clearly.

Alicia Smith, Vice President of F&S Building Innovations, dropped by to discuss luxurious bathroom upgrades to create a spa-like feel. Key considerations for luxury bathrooms include heated floors (which can be retrofitted), heated towel bars, and docking drawers to keep cords organized and off the counter. Alicia also noted the growing trend of using bold colors, jewel tones, statement wallpaper, and tile drenching on entire bathroom walls. She warned that chandeliers over bathtubs are now heavily restricted or prohibited by local building codes.

Design layering, lighting, and low-maintenance flooring were the focus of this week’s The HOME Show!

Ashley Hilbish and Mady Perillo, owners of Greer Design Co. and Curtains, Blinds and Bath, joined us to share exciting news about merging their brands. They discussed balancing rustic and modern styles, like pairing ceiling beams with sleek fixtures. The sisters also highlighted current design trends including millwork, wall and ceiling treatments, wood tones, tile accents, and wallpaper. They also invited listeners to the annual Christmas Preview Night fundraiser, benefiting B.A.R.C.C. featuring live pet sketches and photos as special keepsakes.

Multi-generational family businesses were the focus of this week's The HOME Show!
