The Home That Stood Up to the Emergency and Nurtured Bangalore's Artists

Listen Later

58, St. Mark's Road is a Bangalore landmark. The home was a haven for activism during the Emergency and fostered the city's artists over several decades. Much of the impetus for these developments came from Pattabhirama Reddy and Snehalatha Reddy, whose radical work in film and theatre led to 58, St. Mark's Road becoming an emblem for artistic freedom and democratic values. We also find out how Kirtana Kumar and Konarak Reddy keep that legacy alive today.
