Tanya Brownrigg is a seasoned leader with over 18 years of experience in community service, advocacy, and service management. Her career reflects a deep commitment to social justice and supporting underserved populations. From roles like Senior Vice President of Operations to Director of Admissions and Customer Care, Tanya has consistently driven strategic success while centering community impact.
Her true passion lies in empowering individuals and families, particularly mentoring young women and supporting victims of crime. She provides critical guidance to help people rebuild their lives after trauma, with a special focus on breaking cycles of violence and fostering resilience.
In recognition of her leadership and advocacy, Tanya received several high honors in 2025. She was named a Woman of Influence by University of California, Sacramento, honored as a Purple Ribbon Awards Hopegiver Executive of the Year, by the Alliance of HOPE International, and selected as a Rise Up Visionary Leader for the 2024 California Cohort. These distinctions reflect her dedication to gender equity, justice, and lasting community change.
Tanya's personal history as a multi-generational survivor of domestic violence has profoundly shaped her life's purpose—advocating for underserved populations and ensuring they have access to the resources needed to build resilience. Her determination to support vulnerable communities led her to found the Victims Empowerment Support Team (VEST) during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. While completing her social work internship at the Solano Family Justice Center through University of California, Sacramento, Tanya identified critical gaps in
comprehensive services, support groups, and domestic violence educationfor survivors in Solano County.
On July 1, 2025, Tanya developed and implemented RISE (Renew Inspire Support Empower) Therapy Program, a free individual therapy program offering vital mental health support to VEST's survivors of domestic violence as they navigate recovery. She has also collaborated with the Sonoma County Family Justice Center and District Attorney's Office to launch the first Domestic Violence High-Risk Team in Sonoma County, improving protections for individuals at extreme risk of homicide. Through VEST, she continues to empower survivors and work towards a future where no one has to suffer the way she did.
As a mother and social worker, Tanya brings both personal insight and professional expertise to her mission. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a bachelor's degree from California State University, Sacramento. She continues to lead with empathy, turning advocacy into action and helping vulnerable communities heal, grow, and thrive.
Today, Tanya stands before you as a Thriver - Healed, Hopeful, and Centered in her purpose.
