Tonight’s descent takes us inside the belly of the Tiger I, the most feared tank of the Second World War — and one of the most miserable to command. You are a young German officer on the Eastern Front, handed the “honor” of leading a Tiger. From the outside, it appears invincible, a fortress of steel and fire. Inside, it is suffocating, deafening, and endlessly hungry for fuel, repairs, and human strength.
Through its narrow slits you witness the Eastern Front in fragments: frozen fields, skeletal villages, swarms of Soviet armor pressing closer every day. You endure claustrophobia, exhaustion, starvation, and the slow erosion of your conscience, until the Tiger itself fails and becomes your tomb.
The war will move on without you. The machine will rust in the snow. And yet, long after your death, the Tiger will be remembered as a legend of invincibility, while you and your crew dissolve quietly into forgotten statistics.
