This small publication was simultaneously produced by Keach and his son Elias for their churches. The only differences were the title page and the introductory letters to the readers. Elias’ referred to itself as a “Confession of Faith containing the Substance of all the Fundamental Articles in the Larger Confession”, meaning it claimed to be a summary of what we call the 1689 Confession of Faith. The elder Keach’s was entitled “The Articles of the Faith of the church of Christ or congregation meeting at Horsley-down”. Now Horsley-down was an area in Southwark, across the London bridge from the main city. This church was the same body that first recognized Keach as their pastor in 1668 and that he would shepherd until his death in 1704. The articles of faith were printed in 1697.
