The Huntsville Prison Siege of 1974 was one of the longest hostage-taking events in U.S. history. Three prisoners, led by heroin kingpin Federico Carrasco, carried out an armed takeover of the educational complex at the Huntsville Unit and managed to hold over a dozen hostages captive for 11 excruciating days.
