Excuses are tools of the incompetent, used to build monuments of nothingness, and those that use them are seldom good for anything else. 

I learned that stanza with my fraternity brothers (shout out to the Xi Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc) in the Spring of 1995, and I refer to this poem at least once/week. There are so many gems in here that are lifelong lessons.
