Are you living your life based on the script of your past? Or are you ready to rewrite it? 🛑 How often do you let your origin define your limits? Drop a ✍️ if you're ready to rewrite your story.
When I moved to Europe, I saw firsthand how society sets the bar low for immigrants—especially those from the African diaspora. The narrative is simple: be grateful, lower your expectations, survive. But here's the truth many don’t talk about: the biggest prison is the one inside your mind. We internalize these stereotypes and accept them as our reality.
Breaking free means recognizing the script for what it is—man-made and changeable. I chose to refuse the "look like a beggar" stereotype and focus on setting my own standards—not dictated by zip code or societal limits. This was intentional, not fake. Success is a standard I decide for myself, not one handed to me by circumstance.
This shift isn’t easy—it’s lonely and filled with guilt, but growth always is. Remember: your origin is your starting point, not your ceiling. Small daily actions—reading, learning, investing—are votes for the person you want to become. Start casting those votes today.
Build your identity around what you want, not what you've inherited. Your future self will thank you.
