The Immortal Podcast

Davi, John, Alex and Ole continue to discuss the recent protests regarding police brutality and racism from a number of angles, addressing how different parties have behaved as well as what each of us think about it all. In this episode you also get a glimpse into our plans for new stories in our game that could be based on current events.  As we are all independent thinkers, we don't always come to the same conclusions or hold the same opinions on these issues, but we try to make this into a good example of how it's still possible to have respectful and reasonable discussion even on hot topics.

In this episode, using Alex's Beyond Limits story for Story Games as a starting point, we dive into the fascinating subject of Artificial Intelligence versus our existing interface with the digital world. Is it a danger or a blessing? Will we create synthetic life, or will it gain sentience all on its own?
As a result of such unanswerable questions, we boldly proceed to the broad subject of creation and the archetypal nature of the divine.
Do we reach any satisfying conclusions? You will have judge that for yourself.

As a continuation of episode 07, we discuss the deeper meaning behind Davi's story called Mission: Control, namely the psychology of power and obedience.

Topics include:

• Davi elaborates on interesting topics and studies in his book called Authoritarian Sociopathy.
• We discuss topics that may be relevant for the Mission: Control
• How different personality types may react to obtaining power.
• What effect media and journalism has on the psychology of a population.
• We explore ideas for how the Story Games as a platform can be developed into a proper academic tool for psychological and self-awareness studies.

In this episode, Alex, John and Davi have a conversation about human nature from a wide variety of angles. Will humans ever evolve past the need to be ruled by force? Will there come a time when threatening to use, or the use of, violence, becomes considered outdated and primitive? If so, will such a change come from those in charge, the masses, new types of technologies, aliens or something else entirely? Parts of the meandering goes into Artificial Intelligence and even something called Roko's Basilisk, "the most terrifying thought experiment of all time". Ole's internet connection was so poor that he felt almost as censored as on Facebook. Davi ends with the slogan "The revolution will not be centralized".

In this lively episode, John and Davi ask questions to Alex and Ole regarding their perceived perception of US foreign policy in parts of the world they either have lived in, or visited and studied rather closely. In addition, some free-flowing historical context is added in a lot of cases, since we are all amateur historians of a serious nature. Countries most discussed include Norway, Poland, Indonesia, India, Peru and the Philippines, with an addition from Davi about Somalia. Ole's internet connection could have been better, our apologies for that. The episode came about because we realized that there seems to be a significant distinction between the perception in countries that received financial and military support by the US after World War 2 and the fall of the USSR, and countries directly affected by the US led war on terror.

DISCLAIMER: The discussion in this podcast is based solely upon our own personal views. We are not medical professionals, and we don’t claim to be experts in this field.

We return to the coronavirus situation. We each keep studying to understand the situation better, and have found new angles that offer a basis for a very interesting discussion. The episode kicks off with focus on the rather incredible "Event 201", a documented simulation on a possible coronavirus originating from pigs or bats in China, conducted in October 2019. We return to government, mainstream and social media coverage and handling of the outbreak across the world, and what the long-term consequences of this event might be. New insights shed light on who may stand to benefit from COVID-19, and we look at measures different researchers and scientists suggest would be the most useful.
