The Michael Ostrolenk Show

The Immortality Key with Brian C. Muraresku, #TheEmergentHuman

Listen Later

Ostrolenk, host of The Emergent Human, speaks with Brian C. Muraresku, an alumnus of Georgetown Law, member of the New York Bar, and author of The Immortality Key: The Secret History of the Religion with No Name. Muraresku’s book is a groundbreaking dive into the role psychedelics played in the origins of Western civilization. Muraresku discusses what drove his interest in researching psychedelics and what led him to travel the globe in search of this story. The importance of this research, Muraresku explains, lies in our inheritance of Greco-Roman traditions as the foundation of our Western civilization. Muraresku also details the evidence behind the use of psychedelics by spiritual seekers in Ancient Greece, in the Roman Empire, the Pagan Continuity Hypothesis, and the transition of the Pagan Roman Empire to a Christian Empire. Lastly, Muraresku discusses what this research has meant for his own faith journey and his continued work on the topic through a follow-up book and documentary series.
