The impact of being you

Listen Later

One of the most common blind spots we have in our efforts to be the ‘best version of ourselves’ is our obliviousness to the impact that we have on others. The mainstream narrative around mental health fixates on how we are impacted by the behaviour of others, or by life’s experiences, but rarely does it acknowledge the impact of the choices we make or the mannerisms we act out.

We have impact beyond our general perception or understanding. If we don’t become more aware of this, we will go through life blaming others for not appreciating us the way that we want to feel appreciated, or for treating us badly because of their lack of effort, etc. while the truth is closer to the fact that they may be reacting to how we treat them.

In this episode, I focus on raising awareness about your self-awareness, and how it is that the ever elusive practice of mindfulness is key to improving your quality of life and the substance that you share in the relationships that matter to you. I also reiterate the importance of perspective, and I provide more insight into the critical differences between self-worth and confidence.
