Professor Clare Hanlon is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Health and Sport, Victoria University, in Melbourne. She recently led a research team that completed a study focused on sport uniforms for girls. After the release of those findings ‘What girls want for sport uniforms’, Cadbury and Women Sport Australia provided $150k grant for clubs to change their sport uniforms for girls using the infographic as a stimulant for clubs. Since this time Clare has received numerous emails from associations, clubs and schools where these insights provided the evidence they needed to change uniform policies and regulations. A workshop will be presented at the upcoming IWG Conference in New Zealand, and this research has become a promotional feature for the Active Lives theme of the conference. A follow up research is expected to soon be launched by the State Minister based on how girls feel who recently changed their sport uniform to one of choice and comfort. Host: Chris StaffordRecorded: March 24, 2022For more information, links and resources and hundreds more conversations from the world of women’s sport including articles, blogs, videos and podcasts visit wispsports.com.
