What is Hope?

1 Corinthians 13:13

- Love is the most important. If we go in that order, last to first, that would mean that

hope is the second most important. And we see that this is true because faith is

“The substance of things hoped for.” (Heb. 11:1)

- Hope: a confident, joyful expectation, and a positive imagination

- An example of the power of imagination:

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that

every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

(Genesis 6:5, KJV)

- In the NT whenever positive, godly imagination is referenced, it’s reference as

hope.

- Example: If I’m expecting apple pie when I get home from work, I’ll be imagining it all day

long

- Reality: If your expectation is in the promises of God, you’ll be imagining your

life lived in those promises!

Hope, a positive imagination, paves the road for faith to do its work. Then faith acts

on the imagination and brings that imagination of the future into present day

reality. Hope is that which frames your life!

Imagine what the outcome of the call of God is. Begin to see what He sees, and see

the result of your labor, in your job, in your family, in your church, in your friends, in

your town. You are called and invited to be with Him. Walk in that calling, and

imagine the result of it.
