Everyone has negative emotions.
How does that impact you?
Did you know that even negative emotions have a purpose?
Our brain is hardwired for the safety and security of self and others.
When we have negative emotions, it helps us remember the times of past stress and anxiety. It makes us want to withdraw from the world.
We either unleash physiologically by shouting sometimes becoming aggresive and voilent, or going into our mental caves of solitude and confinement.
We stop taking action for our future and try to maintain the status quo.
So how is it good?
In times of stress, anxiety and negative emotions, our unconscious mind goes back to protecting our body. Because we forget to relax and breathe more, our emotions help us stop that extra bit of activity that can be harmful to us in the long run.
We need to understand that although negative emotions can help us getting harmed, too much of anything is also wrong.
Our concept of morality comes from our values and beliefs. They help us determine the difference between right and wrong. Our emotions are our guide for our morality.
Once we start getting negative, we should understand that something is not congruent with our values. We need to acknowledge that we have to stop.
So what can we do:
- Practice gratitude. Be thankful for your emotions. They are there to protect you from harm
- Practice understanding your awareness. When you have negative emotions, instead of going deep, identify what's wrong
- Practice meditation and mindfulness to understand your thinking
- Practice taking actions towards your future.
Negative emotions can be a conduit for your success. All you need to learn is how you utilise them for your benefits.
