Language Day and we thought to revisit the issue by looking specifically at preserving indigenous languages and why it’s important. Interestingly, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie appointed UCT PHD candidate Naledi Maponopono who has dedicated her academic life to studying African languages and literatures to the board of PanSALB. She will be adding to making sure that indigenous languages are prioritised and get the same attention as the others.
