What is the outlook for public golf in Australia? What are the courses doing it well and what can we learn from them? As urban sprawl continues to increase pressure on shared space, public golf will continue to come under scrutiny and if the game wants to survive it is a reality that needs to be faced now. Matt Day, current manager at Collier Park in WA but formerly of the Wembley golf complex in Perth, joins Episode 102 to share some thoughts on the state of public golf in Australia and its health into the future. Its been quite the journey but after 125 episodes the iSeekGolf Podcast will cease publishing from today. Changes at the ISG parent company have seen a shift in direction for the website and, at this stage, the podcast will not be part of the immediate offering. However, don't delete the feed from your favourite app as the podcast may start again in the future. His father is one of the game's most revered exponents but Andrew Thomson's life has been about much more than being the son of five time Open champion Peter. A former federal minister in the Howard government and long time resident of Japan, Andrew is a lawyer and author in his own right whose writings on golf and politics show a flair not completely unlike his father. He joins Episode 124 of the iSeekGolf podcast to talk all things golf from his dad's legacy to the ongoing distance debate.
