This episode shifts focus to two new apprentices, Pip and Willow, working in the Bell Tower annex, far from the main areas of sabotage seen in previous episodes. Pip is meticulous and inventory-focused, while Willow is intuitive about material interaction. They discover that the windows of the Miniature Village are inert, refusing to hold light resonance. Willow identifies a crystalline indigo residue, which Pip recognizes from historical lore as Indigo Frosting, a substance designed to create acoustic dead zones. This reveals the sabotage network is attacking the visual components of the ceremony as well as the structural and logistical ones. The immediate threat is that the Miniature Village will fail to light, signaling the start of the main lighting ceremony. Pip, overriding his natural caution, decides they must use the massive ceremonial bells above them to generate a necessary sonic counter-frequency to dislodge the frosting, forcing them to break into the highly restricted Bell Maintenance catwalk.
