To: Parents

From: Your child.

We love our jobs and we love our friends

but take them away who’s there in the end?

This thing we call life can’t be found on a device.

It’s sitting right here with your child and wife.

When they are near and you have a choice,

remember the sound of their little voice.

Put it away. Put it down.

Does it really matter what the score is now?

Your job or your date,

Can’t it wait?

Because I’m still waiting to know my place.

To win with your kids is the only game

That will make a difference when you’re old and lame

So, when they’re around maybe put it down

Because when you do not, they will frown.

If they do this enough, they’ll huff and they’ll puff

And they will think they are never enough.

To the Internet they’ll run and, in the apps, they’ll go

Because you have shown them the path to help them grow.

Not you and your fam

Not loved ones who can

But the people online

Who prefers their time.

The give them the love, they help them understand

The things you cannot because of the device in your hand.
