In The Wilderness〚 The Iniquity of Peor 〛Pentateuch: A New Look

After exploring the Balaam narratives (Numbers 22-24), we delve into the "matter of Peor" or the "iniquity of Peor" recorded in Numbers' final chapters. What took place at Peor? Our sources draw on different accounts, sometimes mentioning the daughters/women of Moab and other times Midianite women. These events occur at the end of the forty-year wilderness journey. In this class, we survey our sources to make sense of the confusion and prepare for our forthcoming study of the Book of Deuteronomy.
