In this episode of the Innovation Mindset Podcast, hosted by Mark McNees, we are joined by Sai Devulapalli, team lead of the FSU IGEM project. The team has been working on a solution for Trimethylaminuria (TMAU), also known as fish odor syndrome. TMAU is a rare disorder where an individual's sweat and urine exude a strong fish odor caused by an over-accumulation of Trimethylamine. The team is developing a probiotic enzyme to counter this issue. Despite the condition's rarity and the ongoing lab process, Sai is hopeful that their therapeutic solution could eventually help those suffering from the syndrome, giving them a much-needed intervention for managing their symptoms. Engage in the conversation exploring this innovative medical solution, the intricacies of the issue, and the possible impacts on the TMAU community.
