The judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah was epic and intense.  The people of these cities were completely consumed by shameless sinful practice.  They had only one moral absolute-corrupt pleasure.  This was their collective social mandate that was so evil that Yahweh came down to see for himself if was really that bad.  It certainly was that bad, and the people were shameless in their thoughts and actions.  They weak ones (Heb. enosh) before Yahweh.  The spirit beings sent into the city by Yahweh had come to deliver Lot and his compromised family before judgement would fall upon the people.
