Life in the Son

The Introduction

Listen Later

Good evening everyone! If you are enjoying this today, you are actually listening to the first podcast of Life in the Son and I want to welcome you and invite you listen at every convenience. We'd love to have you. My name is C. K. Williams. I am originally from Jackson, MS, which is where I am now. I didn't like it here to begin with and I still don't like it here but, you know, not liking something, won't change anything.

Just a little history on myself, I grew up in Jackson, on the North East side. Let's just say I grew up in less than amicable circumstances. Family life was rough but, school wasn't too bad until I got to Chastain and that was a whole new ball of wax. Then, of course I had to suffer one more culture shock before graduating high school and that was transferring from Jackson schools to Clinton schools. Enough about me!

Let's talk about Life in the Son. It is exactly what it sounds like it is, Life in the Son. As Christians, we live our lives in the Jesus Christ, He is the Son. I think we have missed the boat on what that mean to live Life in the Son. I have heard many times, just over the past few years, people say, "Well, I love God and He knows what I do, so it's okay". You know what? He knows everything I did, too and it's not okay. Life in the Son is all about living like the Son. We somehow or other missed that boat, missed that class, or slept through that lecture, I don't know.

This is Life in the Son. It's not easy, sometimes. I have an ex-girlfriend who thought that being a Christian would be too boring. I said, "Really? I'm with you. I'm a Christian. Is that boring? Come on think about it, I've been dodging bullets for six years. I didn't even think that was possible until now". Okay. That's enough about me and enough about Life in the Son for now.

Let's talk about Life in the Son being a subsidiary ministry of Latter Rain Ministry and that is an interesting story but, we will get into it later. Well, briefly, Latter Rain was the name I gave to a second Yahoo! Group I opened so I could share what was learned in our Bible study groups that I hosted on a weekly basis. The topics and discussions were really good and I didn't think anyone should deprived of any of it and the group flourishes quite quickly. As I was turning the group over to someone else, I found out that every member of the group was a missionary or evangelist. I almost had a heart attack. I'm just some guy and not one to be teaching missionaries, or anybody for that matter. I had a hard time with that - - still do.

Latter Rain Ministry is the umbrella for several other ministries Life in the Son being one of them. We are working on another aspect of the ministry, or another branch of the ministry and it is called Broken Road. If you are listening to this in Jackson, MS, please listen closely. Broken Road is the first part of the ministry that we are already out in the communities working. Broken Road is strictly to help homeless people who really want to get off the streets. Now, everyone on staff at Latter Rain Ministry and most of the Board of Directors are still homeless. These are the people,
