This podcast episode is an unique and exploratory dialogue about the research project: THE INTUITIVE ENCOUNTER.
The podcast is an open conversation between the renowned Professor Hartmut Rosa from the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and Alexander Bruggisser, PhD fellow at Roskilde University in Denmark.

Together they examine the role of volunteer mentors in Bindeleddet’s expanding work with young people facing homelessness, loneliness, social vulnerability and often multiple, interconnected challenges.  

The project asks what makes these relationships meaningful, what dilemmas arise within them, and how mentors and mentees experience the encounter from each side.

Together Rosa and Bruggisser explore what makes a mentoring relationship meaningful? Not as a fixed programme with predictable outcomes, but a living encounter between two people. Drawing on resonance theory, they ask how empathy becomes genuine responsiveness—and how both mentor and mentee may be touched and transformed when each takes a real interest in the other.

Together they examine social pedagogy and the role of volunteer mentors in Bindeleddet’s expanding work with young people facing homelessness, loneliness, social vulnerability and often multiple, interconnected challenges. 

The dialogue between Rosa and Habo explores what can emerge when professional knowledge and voluntary relationships mee. And how intuitive, responsive encounters may create meaningful possibilities for support, recognition and connection to often marginalized young people.

Together they explore the research project and the case: Bindeleddet’s expanding work with   volunteer mentors for young people facing homelessness, loneliness, social vulnerability and often also multiple, interconnected challenges.

Before this exploratory dialogue there was no predetermined destination. The aim was not to force an agreement or arrive at a final model, but to let two philosophical perspectives meet and to remain attentive to what arose between them. 

The result is an open and searching conversation, moving from young people in vulnerable everyday lives to fundamental questions about freedom, care, belonging and what it means to be a good voluntary mentor.
