Captain Jeffery Tulley returns to the Netherlands to take command of the Invenios, a revolutionary research vessel built for adventure and discovery. Reuniting with his longtime friend and First Mate Oberlin St. Claire, Tulley finds himself eager to embark on their maiden voyage—and perhaps chase the legendary wreck of the Highland Rose.

As the crew welcomes system engineer Dr. Abigail Eventon, whose groundbreaking Trident Drive gives the Invenios unprecedented speed on the open sea, tensions arise over Tulley's ambitious plans. Oberlin urges caution with their still-untested vessel, but Tulley's determination to chase glory before their equipment is fully assembled threatens to put the ship at risk before they've even left port.
