Truly helped me a lot!
The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd was featured in Oprahâs Book Club 2.0 and I was instantly intrigued, because if Oprah recommends it then its not going to be a boring read. However this sounded like a very heavy subject, this book is based on the lives of fictional sisters, Sarah and Angelina, who were at the forefront of the abolitionist and womenâs rights movements. I recently purchased my first Book Buddy Sidekick, and decided if I was going to tackle another book of this magnitude I had to get another one for this book if I could and boy am I glad that I did! This Book Buddy Sidekick expertly took me through everything I needed to know, from relationships to character analysis, it even answered questions I had about the time era. I would singularly recommend this Book Buddy Sidekick to anyone who wants to read The Invention of Wings!
Book Club Crutch
I found this Book Buddy to be of great help when I served as the leader for our Book Club who were discussing The Invention of Wings. The research in the book as well as from the author helps to clarify the characters and the background of slavery in Charleston. Book Buddy does serve as your sidekick. It helps to clarify the plotline and does a very fine job of character description. I found the section on the use of symbolism VERY helpful.
I would like to have included in these "sidekicks" an extension of the book...writing activities, compared to other similar authors and books., i.e., take the book further and do more activities with analysis and critical thinking ideas for Book Clubs.
I will look for other Sidekick books to use as a crutch in the future...
Inspirational books can be end up one of two ways...
Inspirational books can be end up one of two ways; a beautiful story that others will recommend to
others for years to come or falling flat and leaving the read wondering what they just read. It is rare
for a book to fall in the gray area in between where this book fell for me.
