In 1969, as the Summer of Love was in full swing, so was Swingin' London full of posh trends, which included a vibrant hip film scene with a new generation of British actors filling the cinemas. One of those new faces were Michael Caine and The Italian Job was to be his star vehicle into Hollywood. Despite being a box office failure, it was a cult favorite in part due to its unique cast and pithy dialogue. But did it deserve such cult status or should it have been stranded in the 60s?
