Text: Gen 12:1-3

In this video Pastor Glen takes a look at Genesis 12:1-3. We see God's loving pursuit and promise for humanity are powerfully displayed in his vow to Abraham. First, he cuts a deal and then commits to fulfilling both ends of the agreement. We bring nothing to this table called "Grace," which is fantastic news for our neighbourhoods, family and lives.

  3. God puts his divinity on the line. By making a promise to Abraham and walking through the halved animals God rests the fate of humanity on his own shoulders. If God is willing to do this for Abraham, why do we doubt that he would do it for us?
  4. No qualifications needed. Abraham was just a regular Babylonian man living in Ur when God called him. What makes Abraham stand out is that he listened to God, he left family, security, and traveled hundreds of kilometers through dangerous territory. Why is it so difficult to just listen to God and follow? We don’t need any great qualifications to be a Christian and yet it still feels difficult. Why is this?
