As City Lights steps into 2026, this message is a call to live “the Jesus way”—not just admiring Jesus, but following Him as disciples and apprentices who become like Him and do what He did. Tracing Jesus’ invitation to ordinary fishermen and the early church’s identity as “people of the Way,” the sermon challenges listeners to see discipleship as a whole-life pattern marked by obedience, surrender, and faithful practice.


From Peter’s confession that Jesus is the Christ to Jesus’ sobering command to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow, this episode confronts the cost of discipleship: leaving comfort behind, dying daily to self, and building your life around Jesus’ teachings. It also highlights how the Way was never meant to be private spirituality—it was public allegiance that reshaped community, generosity, integrity, and mission.


As the church begins a new series on the practices and rhythms of Jesus (Sabbath, solitude, prayer, Scripture, generosity, and community), the central question remains: Are you willing to live the Jesus way—and what do you need to leave behind to follow Him fully?
