Noted historian David McCullough has a way with words. His book on the deadly events of 1889 that killed more than two thousand people in Johnstown, PA and Cambria County is called "The Johnstown Flood." In it, McCullough details how a fishing and hunting club up in the mountains of Cambria County used a large earthen dam to make a huge lake for recreation. The South Point Fishing & Hunting Club was the creation of some of the most wealthy men in Pittsburgh, men with names like Carnegie, Mellon, and Frick. McCullough is a master story-teller, and while the devastating destruction of the flood truly happened, "The Johnstown Flood" almost reads like a work of fiction.
