We've all heard the phrase, "Don't drink the kool-aid." - it's typically said to dissuade people from pursuing a possibly dangerous idea despite having a positive reward suggested. It's become common vernacular, but where did this strange saying come from? Unfortunately, it would stem from the deranged beliefs of one man, which would lead to one of the worst mass murder-suicides the world would ever see. In November of 1978, James Jones, better known to the world as 'Jim', would instruct his followers to take their own lives in a final show of their devotion to him. How did it get to that point?
