  • Are You in the Uncomfortable In-Between Season? | The Journaling Experience

🎙️ THE JOURNALING EXPERIENCE PODCAST with Camelle ilona

💛 First things first - please click FOLLOW! I'd love for you to listen, leave a comment and share this episode with someone who's navigating a season of change.

Have you ever felt like you're no longer where you were, but you're not quite where you're going either?

You're in that uncomfortable in-between. The familiar season has ended, things that once flowed easily suddenly feel difficult, and you sense that something is shifting. But the next chapter hasn't quite begun.

In this episode, we're talking about change, transition and transformation — and what happens when God is calling you forward, but you're still waiting to see what's next.

What do you do when the grace seems to have lifted from your previous season? How do you let go of something familiar when you don't know how long you'll be waiting for what's next?

And how do you keep believing when doubt, fear and uncertainty start speaking louder than faith?

    We'll explore:

💛 Recognising when a season is coming to an end.
💛 Understanding the difference between change, transition and transformation.
💛 Trusting God when you're waiting with empty hands.
💛 Confronting fear, doubt and criticism with truth.
💛 Rebranding, rebuilding and rediscovering who you're becoming.
💛 Choosing patience and peace over anxiety during seasons of waiting.

I also share a reading from my book Woman in Waiting: The Seven Stages of Waiting, where we explore a question I love:

Who's sitting with you while you wait?

Is it anxiety, worry, fear and doubt? Or have you invited patience, wisdom, knowledge and understanding to the table?

    📓 JOURNAL WITH ME

Here are four questions from the episode to help you think, feel and process your own season of change:

    1. How does it feel when I start to acknowledge my loss?

    2. What lies beneath the anger?

    3. What would happen if I allowed myself to fully believe in my potential?

    4. How can I maintain my authenticity in the face of criticism?

Give yourself permission to pause. You don't need to have everything figured out today.

Sometimes the clarity you're searching for begins when you slow down, pick up your pen and give your thoughts somewhere to land.

  • Your Words Create Worlds | The Power of Your Tongue, Faith & Journaling

Your words create worlds. But what kind of world are you building with yours?

In this solo episode of The Journaling Experience Podcast, Camelle ilona explores the power of our words, the responsibility of our tongues, and the connection between faith, journaling and the things we speak over our lives.

We serve a God who spoke creation into existence. As people made in His image, what can we learn from the way He creates, speaks, names and establishes things?

Drawing on biblical principles and personal reflections, Camelle explores:

    • The creative and destructive tongue: How our words can build, encourage, wound or tear down.

    • The abundance of the heart: Why we need to pay attention to what we're thinking and feeling before it comes out of our mouths.

    • Writing the vision: Why putting our thoughts on paper brings clarity and helps us become more intentional about what we say and do.

    • Speaking with intention: The difference between continually repeating our problems and expressing our hopes, prayers and plans.

    • Think • Feel • Process • Flow: How journaling can help us move from scattered thoughts towards clarity and purposeful action.

Camelle also shares a personal House of ilona experience that illustrates the connection between writing down a vision, speaking about it and taking action.

    Grab your journal and reflect:

    1. What have I been repeatedly saying about myself, my circumstances or my future?

    2. Are my words building the life I want to live, or reinforcing what I want to change?

    3. What vision do I need to write down, pray over and begin acting upon?

Your words matter. Use them with care, faith and intention.

    Think. Feel. Process. Flow.

  • Purpose, Power & Prosperity Now | Nicole D. Roberts on Single Motherhood, Faith & Writing 25 Books

Can you be tired, broke, healing and still chosen for a life of purpose and power?

In this episode of The Journaling Room, I'm joined by Nicole D. Roberts, author, speaker and transformation teacher, for an inspiring conversation about single motherhood, faith, resilience, discovering your purpose and turning your story into a legacy.

Nicole has written more than 25 books in 12 years, but her writing journey began much earlier, at just eight years old, when she started capturing dreams, visions and ideas on pieces of paper.

We talk about her latest book, Purpose, Power and Prosperity Now: A Single Mother's Guide to Living Fully, Building Wealth and Transforming Your Community Without Burnout in 90 Days, and the experiences that inspired it.

Following the breakdown of her marriage, Nicole found herself raising two sons with special educational needs while navigating uncertainty, self-doubt and the pressure of rebuilding her life.

Rather than allowing those circumstances to define her future, she began asking what she could learn, what she already had in her hands and how she could create a meaningful legacy for her children.

    IN THIS CONVERSATION

    • How Nicole began writing at eight years old
    • Her journey from childhood trauma and bullying to becoming a published author
    • Raising two sons as a single mother and redefining what success looks like
    • Finding purpose in painful experiences without allowing them to define you
    • Why prosperity is also about stewardship, service and legacy
    • The importance of listening to your children and modelling resilience
    • Using journaling to identify your gifts, resources and next steps
    • Turning everyday experiences into books that can encourage others
    • Nicole's upcoming children's book, The VIP Who Came to My School
    • Why you don't need to wait for perfect circumstances to start writing

We also talk about the biblical story of the widow and her oil, and the importance of recognising what God has already placed in your hands.

    ABOUT NICOLE'S BOOK

📖 Purpose, Power and Prosperity Now by Nicole D. Roberts

A faith-centred guide for single mothers who want to rediscover their identity, build resilience, develop financial confidence and create positive change for their families and communities.

    YOUR JOURNALING PROMPTS

    1. What do I already have in my hands that I've been overlooking?

    2. What have my most difficult experiences taught me about my strengths?

    3. What lessons do I want to pass on to my children or the next generation?

    4. What story have I been carrying that might encourage somebody else?

Nicole reminds us that a year of daily journaling could give you 365 entries filled with experiences, lessons, reflections and ideas.

And sometimes those pages become the foundation of a book.

I had the pleasure of working with Nicole on the publishing of Purpose, Power and Prosperity Now, alongside editor Lily. It's always special to see an author's message move from manuscript to published book.

  • Monthly Reset Journaling | Reflect, Refocus & Plan Your Next Chapter with Camelle ilona

Feeling overwhelmed, out of routine or ready for a fresh start? Sometimes all you need is a little time with your journal to reflect, refocus and reset.

In this solo episode of The Journaling Room, I'm taking you through my monthly reset process — the same reflection and planning practice I use to review my progress, recognise my wins and move into a new month with greater clarity and intention.

We're using September as our starting point, but you can follow this process at the beginning of any month.

I believe there's power in slowing down long enough to recognise what you've already accomplished before rushing into the next thing. And there's even more power in writing it down!

    IN THIS EPISODE

    • How to review the previous month and celebrate your wins
    • Reflecting on challenges within and outside your control
    • Recognising patterns and deciding what to stop doing
    • Choosing a theme and setting intentional goals for the month ahead
    • Identifying what to start, stop and continue
    • Creating daily declarations, checklists and a self-care plan
    • Using journaling to process conflict and document meaningful memories
    • Connecting your goals to your values and bigger purpose
    • Why quarterly planning has been such a powerful practice in my life
    • How journaling helps turn overwhelming thoughts into clear next steps

I also share some prompts from my journaling books and explain how I use my Living in the Flow Planner to plan in 12-week cycles.

    LET'S JOURNAL TOGETHER

Grab your journal and work through these questions:

    LOOK BACK

    1. What were my biggest wins last month?

    2. What challenges did I face, and what did they teach me?

    3. What do I need to stop doing?

    LOOK FORWARD

    1. What is my theme for this new month?

    2. What are my three most important goals?

    3. What do I need to start doing — and what should I continue?

    4. What is my plan for self-care, self-love and self-worth?

    GO DEEPER

    1. What is the bigger purpose behind the changes I'm making, and how does it align with my values?

You don't need a perfect plan. You need somewhere to begin, the willingness to reflect and the intention to keep moving forward.

  • From Brokenness to Hope | Samantha Roach on Trauma, Healing, Faith & Finding Purpose

Can you really move from brokenness to hope? What happens when the very experiences that nearly destroyed you become the foundation of your purpose?

In this episode of The Journaling Room, I welcome my dear friend Samantha Roach, author of From Brokenness to Hope, trauma recovery counsellor and minister.

Samantha and I first connected through fashion. We were both designers, building our businesses, and little did we know how much our journeys would change. Today, Samantha is helping individuals and couples navigate trauma, emotional pain and recovery.

But before she could help others find hope, she had to walk through her own journey of healing.

In this deeply personal conversation, Samantha shares how childhood trauma, rejection, addiction and a period of profound despair shaped her life — and how her faith, the support of others and her healing journey helped her find a new beginning.

We also explore what it took to write and publish her story, including overcoming the fear of people's opinions, releasing shame and finding the courage to be vulnerable.

    IN THIS CONVERSATION

    • Samantha's journey from bridal fashion designer to trauma recovery counsellor
    • How childhood trauma and rejection affected her sense of identity
    • The role of faith, community and compassionate support in her recovery
    • Why sharing your story can be both frightening and liberating
    • How she overcame shame and fear to write From Brokenness to Hope
    • The writing retreats in Trinidad and Tobago and Kansas that helped her finish her manuscript
    • How one person's kindness can change the direction of someone's life
    • What hope means when you've experienced deep emotional pain
    • Why healing is an ongoing journey, not a destination
    • The legacy of hope and transformation Samantha wants to leave

One of the moments that stayed with me was Samantha's answer when I asked what hope means to her:

    “You can breathe again.”

    Sometimes that's where hope begins.

    ABOUT THE BOOK

  • Marriage Journal with Natisha Williams | 33 Years of Marriage, Faith, Forgiveness & Lasting Love

What does it really take to build a lasting marriage? And how can journaling help couples communicate, forgive and grow together?

In this episode of The Journaling Room, I welcome my dear friend Natisha Williams, author of Marriage Journal: Grace to Cleave; Holding onto Love, for a wonderfully honest, faith-filled and often hilarious conversation about marriage, journaling and becoming a published author.

After 33 years of marriage, Natisha has plenty of real-life wisdom to share. But what I love most is that she doesn't pretend to have everything figured out. She's still learning, still growing and still discovering what it means to love intentionally.

We also talk about how she began writing one sentence at a time, and how those private reflections eventually became her first published journal — a book I had the privilege of helping her bring into the world.

    IN THIS CONVERSATION

    • Why Natisha sees marriage as a covenant rather than a contract
    • What 33 years of marriage have taught her about love and commitment
    • Why dating your spouse still matters after decades together
    • The importance of communication, listening and understanding each other's differences
    • Why forgiveness is essential — and what to do when you're struggling to forgive
    • How journaling helps you process emotions before difficult conversations
    • Building a marriage through prayer, Scripture and intentional reflection
    • Why vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness
    • How Natisha overcame self-doubt to publish her first book
    • The legacy of love, honesty and intentionality she hopes to leave

    ABOUT THE BOOK

📖 Marriage Journal: Grace to Cleave; Holding onto Love by Natisha Williams

With weekly Scriptures, reflections and space to journal, Natisha's book is designed to help couples strengthen their relationship through 12 areas of marriage, including love, trust, forgiveness, commitment and communication.

It also includes opportunities to plan date nights and reflect on your time together.

A thoughtful gift for newlyweds, married couples and anyone wanting to approach marriage more intentionally.

    YOUR JOURNALING PROMPTS

    1. What am I learning about myself through my closest relationships?

    2. Is there something I need to communicate more thoughtfully rather than react to immediately?

    3. What can I do this week to show love more intentionally?

One of my favourite messages from Natisha is that you don't have to be an expert to share something valuable. Your everyday experiences, your lessons and your journey matter.

And sometimes a book begins with just one sentence in your journal.

  • Top Benefits of Journaling | Mental Health, Clarity & Writing Your Story with Camelle ilona

What are the real benefits of journaling? Can writing down your thoughts help you process difficult emotions, make clearer decisions and even write a book?

In this episode of The Journaling Room, I'm exploring why journaling has become one of the most powerful practices in my life, and how it can help you think, feel, process and flow.

I also answer questions from our live audience about revisiting old journal entries, writing honestly, and what to do when journaling brings difficult emotions to the surface.

    IN THIS CONVERSATION

    • How journaling can support emotional wellbeing and self-reflection
    • Why writing gives your thoughts somewhere to land
    • How journaling helps you find the words for difficult conversations
    • When to go back and read your journal entries
    • Using your journal to work through decisions and gain clarity
    • How journal entries can become books, articles and stories
    • When additional support from a counsellor or therapist may be helpful

    THINK. FEEL. PROCESS. FLOW.

This is the approach I use in my own journaling.

THINK — What thoughts are going through my mind?

FEEL — How am I really feeling about them?

PROCESS — What do I need to understand, accept or work through?

FLOW — What can I do next with greater clarity?

I also share how years of journaling while running my business became my first book, Finding Divine Flow, and how a conversation about mental health inspired Smiling Through Depression.

One of the things I believe deeply is that there's power in writing about what you're going through while you're going through it. Sometimes those raw, honest pages become part of the story you'll share with someone else one day.

  • Take a Breath: Conquering Small Talk with Fiona Brennan-Scott | Confidence & Communication

Confident speaking to hundreds of people, but uncomfortable making small talk with one person? You're not alone!

In this episode of The Journaling Room, I'm joined by communication expert and author Fiona Brennan-Scott to explore her new book, Take a Breath: Conquering Small Talk, and the confidence it takes to connect with others.

Fiona works with leaders and subject-matter experts, particularly in STEM, helping them develop the communication skills to match their professional expertise.

But what happens when presenting to an audience feels easier than chatting to someone at the coffee counter?

    SMALL TALK ISN'T SMALL

Fiona explains why she prefers to call it conversation skills, and why the ability to connect through everyday conversations is so important.

We discuss social anxiety, introversion, neurodiversity, working from home and the challenges of rebuilding face-to-face connections.

    THE BREATHE FRAMEWORK

Fiona introduces her seven-step BREATHE framework and shares two important starting points:

B — Breathe: Regulate your breathing, calm your nerves and prepare yourself mentally.

R — Read the Room: Think about the environment, the people and how you can help others feel comfortable.

And remember, you may not be the only person in the room feeling anxious!

    FROM EXPERTISE TO TWO BOOKS

This conversation is also a celebration of Fiona's publishing journey.

Her first book, Breathtaking Communication, captured more than two decades of teaching and communication expertise. Her second, Take a Breath, was brought to publication against a tight deadline — and Fiona received her very first physical copy on the day of our conversation!

We talk about publishing your expertise, creating intellectual property, working collaboratively and why your knowledge deserves to be preserved.

One particularly moving moment is Fiona's story of getting her first book into her mother's hands shortly before she passed away.

    YOUR JOURNALING PROMPTS

    1. Where do I feel confident professionally but less confident socially?

    2. What knowledge or experience have I accumulated that could help someone else?

    3. What would I like to preserve or pass on as part of my legacy?
