History Explains It All

The Journalistic Life of Nellie Bly

Listen Later

Nellie Bly was a very well known investigative journalist in the late 1800s. It didn't matter to her if the job was unsafe or against the social norms of the time; she had a life full of adventure. Throughout her decades-long career she: exposed conditions in factories, went undercover as a mental patient in Blackwell's Asylum, traveled to Mexico to write about the dictator, was on the front lines in Serbia during WWI, wrote novels, patented inventions and more. Her most notable feat was traveling around the world in only 72 days during a competition- which she did while traveling alone! Join us as we talk about these events and much more!
