“Beatles By Request,” hosted by Tom Noonan, on “Oldies 98.9”/WKLX-FM (98.9), Rochester, N.Y. Originally aired Feb. 4, 1996 (Bonus Clip).
Special note: Remembering that time when Tom Noonan called me, at home on a Sunday night, for a Beatles song request for his show, “Beatles By Request” — after, the night before on “Backseat Memories,” I made show history with a first-ever ‘reverse request’ to an unsuspecting girl who, unbeknownst to me when I called her, was taking a bath!
I had totally forgotten about Tom’s on-air bit until stumbling across the segment, on a cassette tape, while dubbing regular “Jukebox” audio for this podcast. To the best of my recollection: The bit was not set up (in other words, I was not expecting his call); rather, my good friend Tom had genuinely caught me by surprise. The only reason I have the audio, I suspect, is I likely rolled tape on my home cassette deck (thus, capturing the audio when he played it back on the air shortly after the actual phone call).
