  • Nothing in Your Life Is Random (You Just Haven't Connected the Dots Yet)

I don't believe life is random. Nothing is. There might be things that seem random, but that's just because we haven't connected the dots yet.

In this episode I break down why "I was just in the right place at the right time" is never the whole story — the people who say that had lived enough life to recognize the moment, and then they took the shot. We get into Slumdog Millionaire, Wayne Gretzky, the four things that have to happen before any "lucky break," and what it actually looks like to flip the switch and start connecting your past experience to what's happening around you today.

One ask this week: pick your direction, then start paying attention. You have a whole life of experience to pull from.

  • Living a Last-Minute Life Is Quietly Destroying You

There's a thing that will slowly, secretly, and quietly destroy you. It won't just hold you back from what you want — it'll actually move you backwards. I call it living a last-minute life.

In this episode I break down what a last-minute life looks like (the job you wait to apply for, the business you've been chewing on for years, the gym you'll go to "one day"), the part most people miss — that last minute often means you don't handle it late, you miss it entirely — and why the fact that you do this just makes you normal. But you're not normal. You're the one listening to this.

This one's a wake-up call. Go from living a last-minute life to living a proactive one. Starting today.

  • The Crabs in the Bucket Story (And Why You Gave Up on Your Biggest Dream)

How many of us had a big, delusional, semi-unrealistic dream when we were younger, and somewhere along the way we just let it go? Not because we wanted to. It felt like the world was slowly pulling us away from it.

This week I tell the crabs in the bucket story: an old man fishing on a pier, a bucket full of crabs, and one crab trying to climb out. The old man doesn't even bother. The other crabs will pull him back in. That's exactly what happens to us. The people around us, sometimes friends and family, more often coworkers and classmates, pull us back into the bucket. Not because they don't like you. Because what you're doing reminds them of what they're not doing.

Then I get real about my own delusions. I'm 35, three kids, 5'9", can't dunk. I'm still chasing world-class athlete (HYROX and jiu jitsu now), New York Times bestselling author (so I keep writing), and a million-plus a year (so I keep saying yes to business).

Your homework: go back to the list. Pick something big, crazy, and potentially impossible. Write it down, feel it, envision it. It is not too late, and you have more time than you think. Don't waste it.

  • Saying Yes Isn't an Answer. It's a Mentality.

If you've listened to this show for a while, you've heard me say it: the best things in life come from saying yes. This week I'm proving it with two real opportunities that are in the works right now, and neither one showed up as a "typical" opportunity.

Yes #1: a service I'm building that makes small businesses actually findable online. I heard a guy doing something similar on a podcast, reached out, talked shop, packaged it my own way, and almost immediately had two clients paying several hundred dollars a month.

Yes #2: I was on a client's X profile, saw a post from a guy with an incredible Instagram handle looking for a partner, and DM'd him on the spot. Today we had an hour-long conversation that could've been three. That's turning into a partnership.

The point: saying yes isn't waiting for someone to ask you a question. It's a proactive mentality. It's uncomfortable, it's a double-edged sword, and it's how you put yourself in the way of success.

  • Every Second Counts: The 8th-Place Mindset That Wins

This morning I was walking my neighborhood at 6am wearing two weighted vests, staring at my phone, with a wireless mic clipped to my chest. I looked ridiculous. And nobody cared. That's the whole episode.

Short one today. No AI, no cop stories, no tools. Just one belief that's holding you back (that people are watching and judging), one CrossFit documentary from 2009 called Every Second Counts, and the guy who won the 2008 CrossFit Games from eighth place because he stopped doing what everyone else was doing.

    What's in it:

    • Why nobody is looking at you as hard as you think (and why that's freedom)
    • "You can just do things" - what that actually means when you're chasing a different life
    • Jason Khalipa, 30 squat clean and jerks at 155, and the come-from-behind win
    • Why most of us are running with a weight vest on, and why it doesn't matter where you start
    • The squat clean thruster - using your unfair advantage instead of copying everyone else
    • The four things I think success is directly correlated with

Every second you spend working on the thing counts. Get after it like you're going from eighth to first.

  • You Don't Need to "Make It" Before You Share It

If you're a beginner right now — building a business, making content, starting anything — you are in the best possible position to teach. Not next year. Not once you've "made it." Now.

In this one I walk through the teaching loop (grind, make it, get asked "how did you do that?", start teaching, repeat), the "made it" problem that makes people with 200k followers weirdly hard to relate to, and why the person with 655 followers is actually the most relatable person in the room. Then I get honest about the trap inside the loop — if all you ever teach is how to grow, you just attract people who want to grow — and the three boring steps I'm betting on to find something that's actually mine: get the reps in, actually listen, and let the product show itself.

I'm not saying any of this from the top of the mountain. I turned in my badge less than a year ago. I'm a couple switchbacks ahead of some of you and way behind a lot of others. That's the whole point.

Share your stuff now. You won't regret it.

  • Just Say Yes: It Wasn't a Master Plan. It Was a Chain of Yeses.

What's standing between the life you have and the life you actually want? Most people say money, time, "I need a plan first," or "when the kids are older." I said all of those too. But I don't think it's any of them. I think it's one word: yes.

Last week I was standing on a 231-acre ranch in Texas filming content, and it hit me that I was only there because of a chain of small, mostly uncomfortable yeses that stacked on top of each other. No master plan. Just a bunch of "Hey Kevin, can you build this?" "Yes." "Wanna do this thing for my channel?" "Yes." "Wanna fly to Dallas and work a ranch?" "Yes."

In this episode: why every no you say is actually a yes to something else (and what your nos are quietly saying yes to), the kinds of yeses that actually move your life (the bad-on-paper gig, the assignment nobody wants, the thing you don't know how to do yet), when it IS right to say no, and the one switch I want you to flip this week: default to yes and make no earn its spot.

Homework: say yes to one thing this week that you'd normally talk yourself out of. You already know what it is.

  • How to Find Your Side Hustle When You Have No Time and No Idea

Two guys, two totally different jobs, same exact problem. One is a firefighter who moved off the line into a Monday-through-Friday office job and says he doesn't have the time. The other is a driving instructor with three directions pulling at him and no idea which one to pick. I got on calls with both of them this week, and I told them the same thing.

"I don't have time" is almost always a "what" problem. When you find the thing you're actually fired up about, you find the time every single time. And that job you hate? It's paying you while you iterate. That's a cheat code most people starting from zero don't have. Don't burn the boats yet.

Then I walk through the three places your side hustle is probably already hiding: the job you're trying to leave, the thing people already ask you for, and whatever you were obsessed with as a kid before anybody told you what you were supposed to be.

    Chapters:
00:00 Kitchen table, Bluey, and the dream
00:58 Two calls, two guys, the same problem
02:18 Guy one: the firefighter with no time
03:02 Guy two: the driving instructor with too many directions
04:17 "I don't have time" is really a "what" problem
05:31 Your golden handcuffs are a cheat code
07:07 Place #1: the job you're trying to leave
08:10 "I called 50 times and nobody answers"
09:19 The cop who started a cleaning company
10:02 Never looking around inside the building you hate
11:06 Place #2: what people already ask you for
12:38 Homework: the last five things people asked you for
12:51 Place #3: what you were obsessed with as a kid
    14:19 The three questions
    16:06 You don't need a new idea
    16:45 Close

I left a 10-year law enforcement career to build this. I'm about half a step ahead of you, and I'm sharing all of it as I go. Stay in the fight.

  • How I Built a Business Working 40+ Hours a Week as a Cop

Everyone says they want out of their 9-5. Almost nobody wants to hear where the time actually comes from. In this episode I break down the exact schedule I ran while working 10+ hour shifts as a cop — the 4AM window, using shift downtime, and protecting family time — plus why the "niche down" advice everyone repeats is dead in the algorithm era.

We cover: finding your side hustle hours, the 30-minutes-a-day math, the hamster wheel truth, personal branding in the AI era, owning your audience with email, building a paid community, and Kevin Kelly's 1,000 True Fans.

Recorded live, off the cuff, with my little guy hanging out next to me. Stay in the fight.

  • It's Not a Midlife Crisis. It's an Identity Crisis.

Millennials everywhere are having a midlife crisis. Except it's not a midlife crisis at all. It's an identity crisis, and those are two very different problems: one you survive, the other you have to solve.

In this episode I break down why our whole generation is cracking at the same time, the trap that got us here (we didn't pick careers, we picked a sentence: "I'm so proud of you"), and the one mechanism that actually gets you out: micro bets. Tiny daily bets on yourself that you make BEFORE you quit, not after. Plus the part nobody warns you about: what happens when someone asks "so what do you do?" and you don't have a title anymore.

Three micro bets to make this week: (1) do the retirement math and sit with the number, (2) put one hour on your escape hatch skill, (3) say one true sentence out loud.

I'm Kevin Bell. Ten years as a cop, turned in my badge in October, building a life that's actually mine. This is The Jump.
