Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week was earlier this month and you might have noticed that all the models were mostly thin, mostly white and mostly women. Which is okay, but is it really a true representation of the current fashion and modelling industry?
In a move to increase their diversity and representation of real Australians, they had the first curve model in the history of the event strut the runway. But given the number of designers and shows on, wouldn't you think that curve models would be in every show?
La'tecia Thomas was the model who walked the runway for the swimwear line Aqua Blue, signalling a sign of change for all curve models in the whole country. But she only walked in one show at the end of the week.
Today, Kaley-Jade Baker introduces you to someone who has been working as a model for just over a year and has had plenty of experience with the challenges that come with being a fuller woman in an industry that is all about body image. Meet Brisbane-based model Kristen O'Sullivan:
